The inimitable DJ Switch returns with his grab bag of genre-crushing beats and breaks. Never regarded as one-trick pony, the Oklahoma City resident pushes the boundaries of his hip-hop/drum & bass hybrid, peppering it with moody funk and atmospheric electronics. Blistering breakbeat workouts make way for hazy head-nodders and psychedelic jungle rollers, sometimes within the same track.
After attending his first underground party in 1996, he christened himself Switch and began creating his own breakbeat & drum & bass tracks, eventually Catching the ear of the underground community, he began spinning records and building up a massive record collection.
Soon after, bookings were flooding in from around the United States and Switch hit the road with a his turntable circus. Combining turntable trickery with a penchant for straight ahead party rocking, the Switch experience includes live remixes of favorites like Black Sabbath, Missy Elliot, Hall & Oates, Mos Def and more.
Eventually linking up with Oklahoma City indie Rise Up Records, he released the classic "FIEND" album, which would be featured in URB's "Next 100" as well as in the pages of Spin, XLR8R and Mixer. Two blazing albums for Rise Up would follow: "FREEZE UP", a foray into house and breaks and his rugged return to form, "URBAN LEGEND".
With his reputation established, Switch was invited to share the stage with some of the most adventurous names in music, such as: The Sugar Hill Gang, 311, Moby, Vanilla Ice, Paul Oakenfold, The Pharcyde, and The Roots.
Thereafter, With the wake of certains sound needing pushed, Switch hooked up with another local turntablist, Stinky P, and formed a 4 turntable group, called "The Breaks" The two have had great success with the concept and were flooded with bookings. The two have played everything from rock concerts to clubs and are currently pushing the envelope even more by including guitar pedals, live instruments, and software to their show. The two released "FUNK MIX" in 2003 which was given rave reviews from several media outlets.
Switch is currently working on his newest battle record: 1-405-HAR-DASS Breaks, which is being deeply anticipated for release and is always in the studio working on remixes of electronic artists. Switch has also recently hooked up with newcomer DJ Buddha working on turntable compositions. Switch is the beat junkie to keep an eye out for in 2005.
